My connection to Kinloch

My partner Husk & I are delighted to live in Kinloch & we feel privileged to be part of such a wonderful community. We built our home & moved in just ten days before the first Covid lockdown, during this time we had the chance to landscape our garden & explore the many walks & bike rides around Kinloch. We find the local community to be friendly & welcoming, we've found a true sense of belonging in Kinloch.

Background & experience

Before moving to Kinloch, I lived in Hamilton for 25 years & worked for the NZ Law Society, along with part-time roles as a secretary/treasurer for the Waikato Thoroughbred Breeders Association, plus hospitality & property management over the years. Since moving to Taupo five years ago, I've worked as a real estate agent for Tremains & enjoy helping people find their dream homes in the beautiful Kinloch & Taupo region.

Key issues for KCA & the community

The continued growth of Kinloch seriously concerns me due to the lack of infrastructure available. The current population already overwhelms the existing facilities, and adding hundreds more sections, as proposed in Seven Oaks, would only exacerbate the issue.

The current application for resource consent by Seven Oaks does not align with the Kinloch Structure plan or the TDC Long-Term plan. I’m pleased to be part of an association that is trying to stem the tide of more housing development in Kinloch.

Having holidayed at our Kuratau bach all my life and now living here in Kinloch, I’ve noticed the deterioration of our lake shore and water quality over the years, and I believe that the pollution of the lake over the next 20 years doesn't bear thinking about. We need to act now.
