My connection to Kinloch
I have been a visitor to Kinloch for over 40 years and have been a permanent resident for just over 16 years in which time we have built two houses and put our two children, very successfully through local schools in Taupo.
Background
I have been employed in the hydraulics industry for over 30 years and now I am self-employed primarily as a Hydraulics engineering consultant specifically in the global forestry and local power generation markets.
From a family perspective, Kinloch has provided a perfect haven, a safe retreat for the kids as they were growing up, a supportive community network and a sense we were living in a holiday home away from the hustle of urban New Zealand.
I am and outdoors person who loves hunting, fishing, and the natural beauty of our surrounding environment. Kinloch provides a gateway to some of the best opportunities I could hope for.
I have spent 8 years, currently in my 9th year, on the KCA Executive (over two separate terms). I have been actively involved in the development of the Whangamata Stream Trail over the years and served as president of the KCA for 3 years.
Key issues for me regarding Kinloch are.
Controlled and structured growth while maintaining the Kinloch village character and feel.
Continued enhancement of our stream reserves
